Arlington ISD should have shown the speech.

With all the bad influences out there for kids I don’t see how anyone would be worried about anything the president would say unless they are so hard core republican that they can’t stand the idea of their kid hearing something positive from a democrat, and they’re afraid their kid might like him or admire him. Or maybe they’re racist and they don’t want their kid to hear something encouraging from a black man.

  3. Myles says:

I feel like the school speeches that President Obama intended for the children were meant to be heard by them. It’s not every day that the President of the United States makes an address to the up and coming generation.

  4. I agree with Connie who left a message..class is not the place for political hypnotic word play.
Each word spoken is filled with suggestions. Young minds believe what adults teach. The action of the school speaks to the kids..kids look up to the teachers. Parents choice..for each action or word there is always a reaction and that is why we have News..

  5. Gary says:

So if you think the message is great then it seems like you should want kids to hear it.

Plant the seed and raise a whole generational crop of Democratic kids. Hell. it smacks of Nazi youth. I heard the speech and think the message was great. Probably no harm ,but was it politically driven – of course. Stay out of the schools and leave parenting to parents, not politicians.

In case you haven’t noticed it will take us decades to get out of the debt that Bush ran up for the war and tax cuts for people that make 10 times what you do. Even if you agree with the tax cuts (and I don’t) how can you agree with all that money spent on war but not health care? That means it’s alright to go trillions of dollars in debt to kill people but we’re afraid to spend money to help people here in our own country?

And remember that the financial crash and bailout was during Bush’s watch. The 1st 700 billion to banks and financial companies was dreamed up under George W.

Barf! Nothing good will come from this guy. The next four years of his policies will take decades to recover from. Nothing wrong with a speech from any Pres at school. Good for the kids to see. I’m confident my kids won’t believe a word from this one…

I don’t have children but if I did I would want to be briefed on the content of his speech. I agree with Connie… I would want to dialogue about it with my child. I am thrilled that he wants to encourage our children but I think we would all be enlighten to know his motives behind the speech.

Personally, I don’t trust the man and while I respect the office of the Presidency, I find myself deeply concerned with the state of affairs within our country. Our Freedom came with a huge price and we are loosing it day by day…. that’s a shame.

  10. Kim Lee says:

    They should have shown it.

i wanted to see a transcript b4 he spoke to MY kids. After seeing a request at whitehouse.gov asking for me to turn over/forward all emails questioning the obamacare bill HR3200. (esentially turn in friends family to the WH) that is just plain unAmerican. i found this while doing a search to read HR3200. also, there are parts of the bill i have read and obama has either not read these parts and therefor doesnt know HR3200 contains them or he IS lying. and if the bill didnt say those things, why have those pages since been removed?? either way he should be addressing these complaints, not trying to get us to turn eachother in. this kind of behaivor has left many of us with a bad taste in our mouths and feeling less than trusting. so when it comes to our children i understand the weariness of just wanting to know what the speach contained. instead of answers they just shut it down……makes no sense.

It saddens me, the utter lack of respect we have for the President of the United States.

  13. Connie says:

If they are going to take time away from the classroom, I can think of several things that would impact these kids lives more than a pep talk from a politician. If a parent is passionate about their child seeing it, the parents can record it, and then be able to have a conversation afterwards with their kids.

    What a shame.
