1998 American League Rookie of the Year, Ben Grieve, graduated from Martin High School in 1994. Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Vernon Wells grew up in Arlington and attended Bowie High School. Houston Astros outfielder Hunter Pence attended Arlington High School and played collegiate baseball at UTA. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher John Lackey also played for UTA.
