Love the diversion of the movies!! I watch a lot of TCM and enjoy the contrast of plot vs effects of todays films. I'm glad Jeff Bridges won but never in a million years would I have cast a stereotypical name like "Bad Blake". My brother and I had a bet on six categories and we both went 3/3. I guess I'm a tad quirky but almost anything Tarentino does is worth seeing to me! The whole oscar thing is kind of cheesy but it still creates a little buzz but it seems less so every year.My favorite of all time - it's hard to decide THE favorite but I still pick "Cool Hand Luke".

Favorite movie - Remember the Titans

Liked the effects in Avatar. Blind Side was a good story though not sure I believe the family's intentions were entirely altruistic. Loved The Hurt Locker. Up had some cute moments too.

i like good movies or non-fiction films....the oscar's are like the grammy's.. all the people of that particular industry getting together and patting each other on the back....good grief give me a break....it's a slap in the face to all the movies or recording artist who work just as hard and they are not "nominated" for the gold prize! you know the oscar or the grammy!!?? .....
i compare it to food...why should steak & potatoes be chosen as the best food....who gets to say "it's the best"?
what about italian or mexican or chinese or seafood....it's all about what each person likes....
who'the best guitar player?....clapton or chet atkins or segovia??...it's all about what each person likes....
so why does the "industry" have to "claim" they know what movie is the best or what song is the best each year???
i mean good grief!! it's all about what each person likes....
most of the time the truly best movie or best artist or song never even gets nominated or mentioned.....
so come on "which is best...fried chicken or pizza?"

documentaries and smaller indy films instead of blockbusters. Shawshank Redemption was a favorite big budget film back in the '90s, with Morgan Freeman and Tim what's his name.

I saw only one of the films this year and it was Avatar and I was a little disappointed. I mostly like documentaries and low budget films with a point. I still want to see "Precious" but i'm afraid it will be overly sappy. The effects of Avatar were cool but it was too big and mainstream for me. I went because I wanted to see the effects and so I did.

Favorite of all time? - The 1st Godfather, Goodfellas
