Don’t Rain on Our Parade, Concerts & Fireworks!

Mother Nature knew better than to mess with Texas…than to mess with Arlington, Texas, that is…on the 4th of July weekend. No rain in this video. Just a lot of good, old-fashioned, Independence Day fun!

uncle-same-arlington-txThe VIBE talked to Arlington’s own Melissa Lawson, who performed at the Levitt Pavilion’s July 3rd concert. The Arlington Community Band and Arlington Civic Chorus also played for the large crowd on Saturday.

We spoke with B.J. Cleveland and Persis Ann Forster as well, who did the play-by-play of the 45th annual downtown Arlington parade.

I was at the parade with my “cowboy” maniquin who was wearing a respirator. My sign read “Breathe Easier with Vapor Recovery Systems”. Nothing political there just wholesome concern for what is happening in Arlington with the rapid growth of URBAN industry in drilling for natural gas so close to …people! Now our Cowboy Stadium could actually get a well less than 3,000 feet from it’s doors. This is risky business. At least Ft Worth is spending half a million dollars to see if their air is fouled. The EPA is taking a couple of years to find out if hydraulic fracturing contaminates the ground water. I’m afraid we don’t have two years to wait. Ignorance is recklessness. We do not even have Vapor Recovery Systems in our ordinance-our cars need emission controls-why not this industry?…ooh cutting corners $$ is what the oil and gas industry is now known for.
