Geraldine  Mills, longtime director of the Arlington Historical Society, was recently recognized by the Tarrant County Historical com-mission for her endeavors. She was the recipient of the William E. Jary Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Documentation of Tarrant County History. The award was presented at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth.

The Mission Arlington Bike Drive is on!  visit our website www.bikesformissionarlington.org to see last year’s video. 

We look forward to seeing each of you again this year and hopefully some new faces as well.

Bikes for Mission Arlington started with some dads and their kids. We bought some bikes and we took them to the Christmas store at Mission Arlington. www.missionarlington.org.
That first year 6 bikes were donated. Last year, with the help of families from all over Arlington, 153 bikes were donated!                               Our goal this year is 300 bikes!

Please join us! Involve your kids and let them pick out the bike(s) and helmet(s) that are appropriate for a child their age. Bring your family and your bike(s):

From there we will caravan down to Mission Arlington to deliver the bikes. It is an awesome sight watching our kids fill up the room with bikes. You will also have an opportunity to see the Christmas Store at Mission Arlington.

Well, the World Series went to the San Francisco Giants, but the Rangers did manage to win one World Series game.  So the Rangers and their fans will have to settle for being the American League Champions, which is still the best year in the team’s history.  This was a great team that gave us a great year, won their division and beat the Yankees.

The first two games will be at San Francisco, Wednesay the 27th at 6:57, and Thursday the  28th at 6:57.

The Texas Rangers are coming home after winning 2 of their 3 games against the Yankees in NY. The Rangers lead the series 3-2 and one more win will send them to the World Series for the 1st time in team history. 

Now it’s  Friday at 7:00 at the Ballpark in Arlington for Game 6,  and if necessary,  Saturday at 7:00 for Game 7.  Both games will be televised on TBS .

The Cowboys on the other hand are off to one of their worst starts ever, losing to the Vikings which leaves them at 1-4 for the season, at the bottom of their division.  Monday Night  the Cowboys will face the 4-1 division-leading  NY Giants here at the huge stadium in Arlington.

 

Can the Rangers win one more?

   The Texas Rangers made history Tuesday night by winning 5-1 in their 3rd game over the Tampa Bay Rays and thus moving on to the next round of the playoffs for the 1st time. 

There are lots of stories here – Cliff Lee, great base-running, Kinsler, visiting team wins every game, Nolan Ryan’s vision, etc                 Stories and film clips at www.texasrangers.com

But not much time to celebrate - it’s on to face the NY Yankees on Friday, Oct 15th at 7:00 pm at the Ballpark in Arlington .- televised on TBS.
